The 16th Annual Celebrate Service… Celebrate Geneva… Day of Service will be held Saturdays, September 20th, October 18th, and November (TBD).
Volunteers from the area will unite with the common purpose of giving back to the Greater Geneva community. The event is being planned by volunteers from all areas of our community with support from local businesses, service providers, and educational institutions. Sponsors that donate $250 or more to Day of Service include Walmart, B.E. Wright (Snapple), William Smith Congress/Hobart Student Government, Pepsi (Geneva Club Beverage), Finger Lakes Health, Sodexho, Geneva Awning and Tent Works, Clemens Signs, John Holtz Honda, Wegmans Food Markets, and First Book. These sponsors are featured on the back of the DOS T-shirts that are worn by all volunteers. If you would like to participate, please e-mail DOS@hws.edu.
This year, the Day of Service planning committee seeks to engage more volunteers than ever before to participate in Day of Service. Thus, three pillars of service, based on the values of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, were identified as points around which to do service. The focus points are Youth and Literacy, Community Well-being, and the Environment. All service sites this year will relate to at least one of these three pillars, with the hopes that this will offer meaningful and purposeful service opportunities for everyone!
Families with children ages 8 and under are invited to be a part of Day of Service by joining us for any or all of the day at the HWS Barn on St. Clair St. for age-appropriate service, games, stories, and entertainment that will revolve around caring about and helping others. We'll have kid friendly food and shirts for all who register. Parents/guardians MUST plan to remain with their children.
