At a small, residential, liberal arts college, students are the center of the community. At HWS, we care deeply about the members of our community and those who will choose to join us in the future.
A personal interview is an opportunity for you to discuss your academic curiosity, your personal strengths and your goals for the future while learning more about the HWS experience. At the same time, we come to know more about who you are as a person from these conversations, and that’s important to us. Often, information YOU share proves to be very helpful as we select a new class of students for the coming year.
While not required, we strongly recommend a personal interview. Without one, some students may be at a disadvantage at the time of admission selection. If you are applying for our Trustee Scholars Program, a personal interview is required.
Interviews are available on campus starting May 1 for high school juniors, and we stop offering interviews for seniors at the end of January. If distance makes it impossible to visit campus for a personal interview, often we can arrange for an HWS alumnus or alumna in your local area to meet with you for a personal interview. Also, during the school year visit HWS on the Road to see when interviews will be offered by Admissions staff in your local area.
