

As of May 7th, 2008, undergraduate students are eligible for a maximum $2,000 of additional Unsubsidized Direct loan.
Apply for your Direct loan at www.studentloans.gov.
To complete the new electronic Master Promissory Note (e-MPN), visit www.studentloans.gov
Site instructions: Click on the sign in button to proceed to the next page where you'll be required to enter your social security number (without dashes), first two characters of your last name, date of birth, and PIN, which is the same PIN you used to sign the FAFSA. After you have signed in, click on Complete the Master Promissory Note then select Subsidized/Unsubsidized and follow the prompts. Critical: At the end of the process, you must click on review master promissory note for your information to be accepted.
Federal loans are both subsidized (government pays the interest while student is enrolled at least six hours) and unsubsidized (interest accrues while the student is enrolled at least six credit hours.)
