RE: The Alumni and Alumnae Print Directory
Many alumni and alumnae have responded to the gold-colored postcards and/or emails from Alumni House asking for participation in the 2011 HWS Print Directory project. The final stage of the project involves reaching out to those whose information has not yet been recorded. To that end, the publishing company with whom we contracted (Harris Connect) has now begun phoning those who haven't yet responded.
Here are some details related to the Print Directory project:
1. Harris Connect, a reputable publishing firm used by hundreds of private and public schools, has been hired by HWS to contact our alums for the purposes of confirming and collecting contact information for a printed Hobart and William Smith Directory. This information is being gathered exclusively for our Hobart and William Smith community and will not be shared or sold to any other group.
2. Alumni House has extremely rigid policies with regard to protecting privileged alumni and alumnae information from the sale or promotion of anything that isn't directly associated with the Colleges.
3. The directory is sold though Harris for a limited time only. (Also to be made available on CD.) Institutions do not pay Harris for this service. Rather, Harris generates revenue by selling the directories. Therefore, in addition to confirming your contact information, Harris agents will also ask if you wish to purchase the final publication (or CD).
4. Harris and Alumni House will honor any requests to have all, or parts of, your biographical data excluded from the publication.
We hope you will participate in this initiative as it provides us with an efficient way to update our records while offering a "refreshed" list of alumni and alumnae contacts to our HWS community. If at any time you feel unreasonably pressured to participate, or if you are made to feel in the slightest way uncomfortable, please let us know immediately. We are in close contact with our colleagues at Harris and will address any concerns as quickly as possible.
Questions about the project should be directed to Karen Ilacqua Reuscher '88, Director of Advancement Services at Hobart and William Smith.
