ADMINISTRATIVE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Upcoming Events (Spring 2010)

  • 6 April, AAC Luncheon, 12 p.m., Faculty Dining Room
  • 17 May, AAC Ice Cream Social

History

The Administrative Advisory Committee (AAC) was founded in 1993 when the former Administrative Budget Committee and the former Faculty Budget Committee were combined to form the Planning and Budget Committee). Members of these groups disbanded in favor of having open elections for a new committee. The first elections were held in May 1993.

The Committee

There are 12 members on the committee representing the academic sector of campus (library, laboratories, registrar's office, Center for Teaching and Learning, dance, theater, media, art), the institutional sector (administrative services, business office, alumni house, communications, computer center, college store, human resources, security), and student services (deans' offices, intercultural affairs, career services, athletics, Hubbs, admissions).

Mission

AAC's mission is threefold:

  • To provide a forum for discussion of policy;
  • To develop and communicate recommendations to Senior Staff, the President and the Trustees; and
  • To facilitate communication among administrative staff, and between administrative staff and members of the Colleges community.

Functions

AAC has a proactive alignment with Senior Staff and continues to assess the needs and concerns of our constituencies and the institution at large.

AAC has polled its constituency and in response has formed various working groups to address pertinent issues. Some groups consist of AAC members only, and in some instances, other members of the administrative staff are involved. These committees continue to address administrative issues and make recommendations to Senior Staff which may result in new policy.

The committee reports to its constituency at AAC sponsored events and by hosting meetings with the President and Senior Staff.

It enhances the sense of community by operating such programs as a "Welcome Reception" in the fall, the Administrative Luncheon Series, Community Meetings, and the like.

We welcome all comments and suggestions. Please feel free to e-mail or call any committee member at any time.
